Linden, Tilia Europaea is a deciduous tree also known as Common Lime. It most commonly grows in Europe, western Asia and North America. The small clustered flowers have a jasminelike smell and taste that is popular for tea and relaxation blends.
Historically, the Linden tree was considered sacred by both the Germanic peoples and the Catholic church. The latter attributing it to the saints and carving figures like the Virgin Mary and other saints out of hte wood.
